BREAKING NEWS: amfAR Researchers Unable to Find HIV in Transplant Patients
Researchers report that a stem cell transplant patient in London has not experienced HIV rebound after 18 months off antiretroviral therapy (ART). Comprehensive analyses of his viral reservoir by amfAR’s ICISTEM researchers have been unable to find any HIV in his body. This is the longest period of ART-free undetectable virus in an adult since the Berlin patient, who is believed to have been cured by a similar procedure.
